Hallmark Scrapbook Studio is top–notch and intricate; its tools and navigation are well designed. But this scrapbooking program is not the best choice for the computer novice. The terminology used is technical, and although the help files cover a broad spectrum, no further assistance is available from Hallmark.
Hallmark Scrapbook Studio is not compatible with Windows Vista.
Ease of Use:
Menu and tool bars are designed with helpful popup definitions, and the help files in Hallmark Scrapbook Studio are excellent. But you’ll spend a lot of time in these files since Hallmark’s program can be complex and challenging. There were parts of Hallmark Scrapbook Studio that we never figured out how to access.
Feature Set:
The special effects section of Hallmark Scrapbook Studio is second to none. There are plenty of mesmerizing effects to choose from; you’ll have a lot of different options for your photos and find it hard to leave the special effects section alone.
Hallmark also includes a generous supply of scrapbook templates, or you can easily start from scratch. The program comes with a healthy variety of backgrounds, frames, borders and clip art. If you’d like to add images, though, you’ll need to access the help section and walk through the process.
We were unsuccessful in our attempts to access Hallmark’s editing program, SnapShot Express, so we’re unable to comment on Hallmark’s photo editing features.
Importing:
With Hallmark Scrapbook Studio, you can import images, objects, photos and clip art from a digital camera, scanner or from any computer file; Hallmark offers all the importing features you’d expect in scrapbooking software.
Sharing:
Hallmark Scrapbook Studio allows you to send your scrapbook creations out as email attachments or save them to a file. When printing, there are only two default page sizes available when printing your creations (but you can manually adjust page size to any size you wish).
Organizing:
You can save scrapbook projects to disc or to a file on your PC. You can create a single scrapbook page layout. The program does not automatically create album categories for you, but you can do this manually.
Help/Support:
The help section of Hallmark Scrapbook Studio is well written, logically organized, and comprehensive. But Hallmark doesn’t provide an email address or telephone number for support, and they offer only a light FAQs section on their website.
Summary:
Hallmark Scrapbook Studio has a professional look and feel, but would be challenging for the novice computer user. Once this program is mastered however, customers will enjoy its potential. The special effects are impressive and the program offers a generous amount of templates and clip art images.
